The Google Privacy Policy describes how we treat personal information when you use Google’s products and services, including information provided when you use our Google Voice Local Search (GOOG-411) service. In addition, the following describes our privacy practices that are specific to our GOOG-411 service in Canada.
- If your carrier or phone company sends us your phone number, which happens in most (but not all) cases, we will collect and store the phone number, along with the time and duration of your call, each time you use the GOOG-411 service. Please note that certain carriers will still send us your phone number even when you block caller id. For more information on caller id and caller id blocking, please contact your carrier.
- We use the phone number we collect to operate and audit our service. We do not share this information with third parties. We may also use your phone number to distinguish you from other users.
- We collect and store a copy of the voice commands you make to the service, so we can audit, evaluate, and improve the voice recognition capabilities of the service. We do not link the stored copy of your voice command with your caller id without your consent.
- If you decide to contact a business using our service, we do not share any of this personal information with the business you are trying to reach and we stop recording your voice once we connect the call.
- We operate GOOG-411 using certain third party services. We share with these third parties only the information that is necessary to operate our service. These third parties are contractually bound to treat your information in accordance with the applicable Google privacy policies.
